Senjojiki Viewing Platform

This viewing platform is located in the Naruto Park facing Seto Naikai (Seto Inland Sea). From here, you can see the Naruto Kaikyo (Naruto Starit) and the Oonaruto Bridge very clearly. Best spot to take photos. Oonaruto Bridge has the 450m long Oonaruto bridge walkway called “uzu no michi”, which is a must visit spot.

Benesse House

This is a complex of art museum and hotel which was built by Tadao ANDO with the idea of “where nature, architect and art coexist”. Inside, there is a “museum” where an art museum and an accommodation facility are unified, including four buildings such as “Beach” that makes you feel the ocean is right in front of you. The beautiful scenery of Seto Naikai (Seto Inland Sear) can also be seen from guest rooms.

A village where life and art coexist

Art House Project

With some guides from artists, this project is carried out in the Honmura district where people of the community still live. The object of this project is to take old buildings and turn them in to arts. Currently, seven buildings including “Kadoya”, “Minamidera” and “Kinza” are open to public.

A museum of the essence of Tadao ANDO’s architectural style

ANDO MUSEUM

Inside the 100-year-old traditional wooden building, there created a bare cement structure. This was newly designed by Tadao ANDO collecting the essence of his architectural style. For this reason, this museum itself can be seen as one big art work. Here, visitor’s can enjoy the large scale art piece in a quiet atmosphere.

Japanese public bath transformed into an art

Naoshima Bath “I♥︎yu”

Designed by an artist, Shinro OHTAKE, Japanese tranditional public bath “Sento” was transformed into an artistic facility. Here, you can take a bath and enjoy various art works at the same time. Inside, you can see avant-garde art works, ceramic tile mural, etc. depicting elephants and penguins as their theme. Bold and unique designs, full of creativity.

Chichu Art Museum

Building of this museum was led by Tadao ANDO. This museum was built under ground in the aim of not disrupting the beautiful scene of the island. The permanent exhibition includes art works of Claude Monet, James Turrell and Walter De Maria. The museum also has a café where you can enjoy the vast panoramic view of Seto Naikai (Seto Inland Sea).

Located on a small hill, this garden is surrounded by olive threes and herbs. Marukin Shyoyu (Soy Sauce) Museum

Soy sauce and olives are the two specialties of the island. Marukin Shoyu (Soy Sauce) Museum was built on the site of old factory of Marukin Shoyu (Soy Sauce). The building is built in the Gassho-style and is designated as a tangible cultural property. Inside, there exhibits old tools which were actually used in the soy sauce production in old days. The museum sells “soy sauce ice cream”. Come try it!

This 151.3m high Takamatsu Tower is the highest building in Shikoku.
